Tips in Choosing Window Treatments

Having a hard time deciding on what window treatment you will be using for your home? If so, check out these 3 tips in choosing a window treatment that can suit your home style.

Window Style

Your window treatment will also depend on the kind of window you have. You may have a long, narrow window, a bay window, wide windows or whatever they are. Commonly used these days are sliding windows that can use modern panels to look fitting to its modern look. Source: HomeDesignLover.com

Floor-length is the way to go, generally finishing about an 1″ above your floor to allow them to move without brushing the fabric which can cause them to become dirty and frayed. Check with your municipality if there is an electric heater in the way as each will have a different clearance distance your drape needs to be above for fire regulations . Of course too-short curtains can seem nerdy and off, like high-waters. Source: RealSimple.com

Consider privacy

Keep in mind privacy. In any bedroom and/or bathroom, I always go with a blackout lining or at least a thermal lining if the room is naturally dark.  Whatever you decide, be sure the window treatments you pick keep your home private, comfortable and at ease from the outside world. Source: HGTV.com
