Patti Smith is currently on tour promoting her new memoir, M Train. Over the weekend, Smith was interviewed by New Yorker editor David Remnick at the New Yorker Festival, where she revealed she's been writing more books, as Vulture points out. Those include a detective novel, a book of poetry (to add to her extensive bibliography), and a YA novel—"the kind of book I used to read as a young girl," she said. She's also working on "a companion" to her 2010 National Book Award-winning memoir Just Kids, "focusing on music and her late husband, Fred Smith," as Vulture reports.
She added: "I'm always just working. I have tons and tons and tons of unpublished material. I'm gonna be like Dorothy Parker when I die, people are going to go, Holy shit, it's totally indecipherable."
As Vulture points out, Smith also performed "Because the Night", accompanied by Remnick on guitar. Watch video of it:
