Sufjan Stevens has announced plans to reissue 2005's Illinois on vinyl, as a celebration of the record's 10th anniversary. It will be released in early 2016 via Asthmatic Kitty, and limited to 10,000 copies. The vinyl comes in two colors: Antimatter Blue and Cape White. Check out the packaging below.
The reissue is being billed as "the Blue Marvel Edition," thanks to the presence of Marvel Comics character the Blue Marvel on the cover (as you can see above). The Blue Marvel was drawn by original Illinois cover artist Divya Srinivasan.
Some backstory: The Blue Marvel is a relatively new character whose powers are analogous to Superman, who is owned by Marvel rival DC Comics. Superman originally appeared on the cover of Illinois, but was removed from subsequent pressings over copyright infringement concerns. So, this is kind of a cost-free way for Marvel to troll its main competitor.
