3 Etiquette Rules Every Home Buyer Should Know

There are etiquette rules every home buyer should know. In This short post we’ll discuss 3 of those rules, including: avoiding excessive multiple visits, removing shoes and considering adjustments.

Below are 3 etiquette rules every home buyer should know:

Avoiding Excessive Multiple Visits

“One, two, or even three visits are typically acceptable prior to making an offer,” Ameer says. “If you must return more than that, make sure this is a home you are seriously considering.”

All those visits are not only an inconvenience, but they could also make a seller extremely anxious, especially if a buyer comes to the house five times and is never heard from again. Remember, you will have inspections and access to the home again, so don’t waste a seller’s time with too many visits.

Before you come away thinking you’re the only person in the home-buying process who should adhere to a code of conduct, tune in next week to learn all the unwritten etiquette rules home sellers should follow, too! Source: Realtor

Removing your Shoes

Not everyone was a fan of the couple’s rules, though. Some felt that in this housing market, you shouldn’t do anything that might put potential buyers off.

“I suspect these sellers also make you remove your shoes upon entering their house…which I find disgusting.” – Kristin

“One seller made my husband take his shoes off and almost didn’t let him in the house because his clothes were a little dusty.

Meek Mill Disses Drake Again on Another 4/4 EP

Earlier this month, Meek Mill dropped a surprise EP 4/4. On the EP, he dissed both Drake and 50 Cent. Now, he's back with another EP, 4/4, Pt. 2, and he's dissing Drake again, calling out OVO and "Hotline Bling." And on closing cut, "War Pain," Meek raps, "And you claiming you Hov now?/ Man, I hate that shit." Coincidentally, Drake rapped, "I used to want to be on Roc-A-Fella, then I turned into Jay" on his new single "Summer Sixteen." Stream 4/4, Pt. 2 below.

Meek's last album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, came out last year. Recently, he was among the artists who gave support to Flint residents amid the city's water crisis.

Drake Shares "Summer Sixteen," Announces Views From the 6 Will Be Out in April

Drake premiered a new song during tonight's episode of "OVO Sound Radio." It's called "Summer Sixteen." Listen to it on Apple Music.

In "Summer Sixteen," Drake raps, "I used to want to be on Roc-A-Fella, then I turned into Jay." He also raps, "Now I got a bigger pool than Ye, and, look, man, Ye's pool is nice/ Mine is just bigger that's all I'm saying." The song ends with DJ Khaled stating, "They don't want us to have a bigger pool than Kanye!"

Drake also calls out President Obama, who recently declared Kendrick Lamar was better than Drake. Drake raps: "To do what you couldn't do/ Tell Obama that my verses are like the whips at the end/ They bulletproof."

Following his mix, Drake announced that his long-awaited album Views From the 6 would be out in April.

Drake opened this episode's mix with "I'm So High" by Max B, the Harlem rapper who popularized the phrase "wavy" in his music. Earlier this week, Wiz Khalifa accused Kanye West of ripping off Max B when he changed his album name to Waves. Wiz's claim led to a memorable Twitter rant from Kanye.

Following "I'm So High," Drake premiered a freestyle from Nas over Future's "March Madness" (from Future's 56 Nights mixtape). Also during the program, Drake played his new song with Rihanna, "Work," from her album ANTI.

David Bowie's will has been detailed and shared with the public, The New York Times reports. His will, prepared in 2004, directed that his body be cremated and his ashes scattered in Bali. According to The Guardian, his family scattered his ashes there following a Buddhist ceremony.

His estate, estimated to be worth $100 million, was reportedly left to his family and close friends. His SoHo apartment was left to his widow, Iman Abdulmajid Jones. Half of his estate also went to his late wife, with 25 percent going to his son Duncan Jones and another 25 percent to his daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones (via a trust). He left his daughter his mountain home in Ulster County, New York.

He left his longtime personal assistant Corinne Schwab (known as Coco) $2 million and his stock in the company Opossum Inc. He left $1 million to Marion Skene, his former nanny.

Creating Outdoor Living Spaces

We have worked with a few clients over the years that needed to have a larger living space but didn’t have the land or the budget to build a 5,000 square foot custom log home. We recommended that they consider building a home to the maximum size that they could and then adding outdoor living areas to create additional living space.

Even if you don’t live in a warmer climate like California, your outdoor living areas can be designed to complement the weather with fireplaces, overhangs and heaters.

Outdoor Kitchen and BBQ Area

Creating a large cooking area outside can free up a lot of space in your home. We have built some beautiful outdoor cooking areas perfect for barbecuing or everyday cooking.

Outdoor Living Areas

A simple and cost-effective way to gain more space is to build large decks and overhang areas. Include a double-sided fireplace and you can make any deck livable anytime of the year.

Living Roofs

One of the recent projects we completed included the installation of two living roofs. This not only added living space but also helped with insulation and water runoff from the home. There are some design elements that need to be taken into consideration when building a living roof. Water pooling can eventually cause rot and water damage, but done right a living roof can be a great way to increase livable space.

Gazebo

Depending on your land restrictions and your lifestyle, building outdoor livable space directly onto your home may not be feasible. Consider creating a gazebo or other outdoor living structure further away from your residence. This is perfect if you have waterfront property and want a space closer to the water.

Regardless of your budget or lot size, we can help you to design a space that fits with your lifestyle. Visit our gallery and plans section to get some additional inspiration and ideas.

Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls Announces Solo Project as Kristin Kontrol

Kristin Welchez is best known as Dee Dee, the frontwoman of Dum Dum Girls. Today, she's announced a solo project, Kristin Kontrol. Her debut album will be out this spring via Sub Pop. Watch a promo for Kristin Kontrol below.

According to a press release, Kristin Kontrol's music is a combination of new wave, R&B, synth pop, and krautrock. Welchez explained her reasoning for starting Kristin Kontrol:

I wanted to open things up and shed light on significant influences that felt off-limits in Dum Dum land. I don't want to fight them off anymore. That'd be a drag.

The music is so different from anything I've ever done -- I felt compelled to shed the alter-ego instead of trying to morph Dum Dum Girls into something else. I didn't want to mess with that legacy.

So yeah, I'm Kristin … and this is Kristin Kontrol.

Kristin Kontrol is not Welchez's only non-Dum Dum endeavor. Before Dum Dum Girls, she was in Grand Ole Party, which released Humanimals in 2008. She also has a band with her husband Brandon, Haunted Hearts. They released Initiation in 2014. Welchez's last album with Dum Dum Girls was 2014's Too True.

Clark Announces The Last Panthers

Clark Announces The Last Panthers

Last year, Clark scored the "The Last Panthers," a six-part crime thriller TV series that aired on Canal+/Sky Atlantic. Now, he's announced a new album with music from and inspired by the show. It's called The Last Panthers and it's out March 18 via Warp. Check out the tracklisting, read what he had to say about The Last Panthers, and watch a trailer for the album below.

David Bowie composed the theme song for "The Last Panthers." Co-producers Warp Films are bringing the show to U.S. television on SundanceTV later this year.

Clark released the Flame Rave EP last year. His last full-length was 2014's Clark. Read our Guest List interview with him.

I was quite shocked when I heard all the final cues from "Panthers," lined up in the exact order they appear in the show, in a clinical linear fashion. I thought, "there's no way that's an album as it is." There were about 60 tracks for a start. I felt like I had to rescue it from being a conventional exposition of the music in the series, so I went on an immense chiselling/editing mission and also started writing new material. I think it works as a standalone album, it's a continuous slab of liquid melancholy, it resonates through harmony and texture. Rhythm felt less important.

[Series director] Johan [Renck] has incredibly broad, open-minded taste. "Make it more satanic, biblical" was his favourite direction. He hates handclaps too. I'm sure I managed to slip a few in there somewhere. The hard thing was reducing it to a signature "Panthers" palette. The most fun part was recording huge chunks of me playing viola, and then treating the recordings like errant students in need of guitar pedal discipline. It's an amazing feeling to play your own string parts, even though they sound quite scuffed, it brings a grit that I can't resist. I wanted to create an unsettling, brittle sonic universe that reflected the tragic downward trajectory of the characters lives, with moments of immense enveloping warmth and softness.

Jefferson Airplane's Paul Kantner Has Died

Jefferson Airplane's Paul Kantner Has Died

Jefferson Airplane guitarist/vocalist and founding member Paul Kantner has died, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. He was 74. Kantner had suffered a heart attack in March 2015. His friend and publicist Cynthia Bowman confirmed to the Chronicle that he died of multiple organ failure and septic shock.

Kantner formed Jefferson Airplane with Marty Balin in 1965. The band released seven albums, wrote counterculture hits like "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit," and performed at iconic rock festivals such as Woodstock and Monterey. They broke up in 1973, following the release of 1972's Long John Silver.

Following the breakup, Kantner formed the spin-off band Jefferson Starship in 1974 with ex-Jefferson Airplane member Grace Slick and other musicians who'd worked with the band. Through various lineup changes, Starship released 10 albums. In 1989—while Starship was still going—Jefferson Airplane reunited for a self-titled album. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Islands Announce Two New Albums, Taste and Should I Remain Here at Sea?

Islands Announce Two New Albums, Taste and Should I Remain Here at Sea?

Islands last released Ski Mask in 2013. Today, they've announced two new follow-up albums, Taste and Should I Remain Here at Sea? They're both out May 13 via PledgeMusic. They've shared a song from each album, too: "Back Into It" from Should I Remain Here at Sea? and "Charm Offensive" from Taste. Listen to both below, via Stereogum.

Islands will head out on tour in support of their albums. Check out their tour dates below.

Band members Nick Thorburn (a.k.a. Nick Diamonds) and Evan Gordon produced both albums. Speaking on the process, Thorbun said:

Contained on these albums are the saddest songs I've ever written, the funniest songs I've ever written, the catchiest songs, and the most satisfying songs. Excuse all the superlatives, but I honestly don't think I've ever walked away from a recording process more fulfilled and invigorated.

He also spoke about each new song, in particular. He said "Back Into It":

is a study in contradiction. It’s a bright, loose affair, with bubblegum backing vocals and major key guitar chugging, but you don't have to dig that deep to hear the venom, acrimonious and sour. When someone rains on your parade, make rain on your parade lemonade.

On "Charm Offensive":

"Charm Offensive" is all sharp angles, smooth lines and mechanical melodies, but just underneath is a desire for the round edges, the soft corners, a loose swing and some crude revelry. I was trying to express that urge to find the good times, and let the bad ones go. To stop using songwriting as a pool to wallow in. To find the light, to sneak in, “pull back the shades, see the darkness fade.

Thorburn composed the music for the second season of the "Serial" podcast, which premiered in December. He also recently expressed interest in reissuing the band's 2006 album Return to the Sea. (The band considers Should I Remain Here at Sea? the spiritual sequel to Return to the Sea.)

David Bowie's Blackstar Art Released for Free to Fans

David Bowie's Blackstar Art Released for Free to Fans

Jonathan Barnbrook is the graphic designer who designed several of David Bowie's album covers, including this year's Blackstar. Today, Barnbrook—the eponymous London design agency he founded—released the design elements for Blackstar under a Creative Commons NonCommercial-ShareAlike license, so that they can be used by fans for non-commercial purposes. You can download them here.

Barnbrook also shared a note about the release:

Barnbrook loved working with David Bowie, he was simply one of the most inspirational, kind people we have met. So in the spirit of openness and in remembrance of David we are releasing the artwork elements of his last album ★ (Blackstar) to download here free under a Creative Commons NonCommercial-ShareAlike licence. That means you can make t-shirts for yourself, use them for tattoos, put them up in your house to remember David by and adapt them too, but we would ask that you do not in any way create or sell commercial products with them or based on them. Any questions or commercial licence usage please contact us.

Previously, Barnbrook explained the meaning behind Blackstar's cover. "This was a man who was facing his own mortality, and I hope the design is appropriate to that," he said.

Ice Cube Talks N.W.A Reunion, Dee Barnes, David Bowie in New Interview

Ice Cube Talks N.W.A Reunion, Dee Barnes, David Bowie in New Interview

Ice Cube has sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone in which he talked about the N.W.A reunion, his thoughts on David Bowie, why Dee Barnes was left out of Straight Outta Compton, and more. You can read the whole piece here

Ice Cube is intending to reunite N.W.A. at his upcoming Coachella performances, which take place April 16 and 23. Last year, he reunited with MC Ren, and DJ Yella to perform as N.W.A. for the first time in two decades at the BET Experience in Los Angeles. (Dr. Dre did not join them.)

When asked about whether or not the reunited group might tour, he said: "Well, I don't really know the status. Making the movie was a monster, and we had to really concentrate on that. Some things are easier said than done, and I don't know where everybody's head is at. I hope people will see us out on that stage together soon, but it's really up to Dre and Ren and Yella. You might see some of us; you might not see all of us."

Last year, Dee Barnes wrote an essay discussing the 1991 incident in which Dr. Dre assaulted her—a moment in N.W.A history that didn't make it into the film's final cut, though an early draft of the screenplay included the scene. "I felt sorry for Dee," Ice Cube told Rolling Stone about the incident. "And I wasn't too friendly with Dre—I was mad at Dre at the time. I really didn't have too much sympathy for him."

When asked about why the scene was left out, he said: "Go make your own movie about N.W.A. Then you can put in anything you want to. It's like a thousand different incidents that happened with us. There's no way we could have got them all into the movie."

Back in 1997, Ice Cube appeared on a remix of David Bowie's "I'm Afraid of Americans." Asked about whether that was a big deal to him, he said: "It was. He was such an innovator, and his songs were phenomenal. I remember when I first heard 'Fame' on the radio, I thought he was black. It was so funky!"
